Re: Cinema 4D R20 announced

Yes. I winder if integrated with Instant Meshes would improve this much more. Yeah it should. In case of VDB you just leave ''adaptivity'' to zero in VDB mesher and proceed the full res to Instant Meshes. In that moulded example, adaptivity is really high. Instant Meshes can do quads usable for sub...

Re: Cinema 4D R20 announced

It's looking like standard VDB stuff, well known from Houdini. IMO that molded engine parts example nicely shows how far the voxel modeling is able to go, or not. Polygons of some cylinder used for horizontal tube, are still recognizable after VDB processing. I'd say, VDB is still great for making i...

Re: Kristinka Hair 3.0 released

hello, actually it should not align the center of stripe to each guide, in last version, which is 3.2 from July 2014. It's 3/1 ratio, one stripe is going through average of three guides, assuming 'guides and filler from triangles' mode in 'emit' compound. Perhaps there's hair split going along back ...

Re: Noob question (probably)

How can I reproduce the operator on another poly of the mesh, though? It seems to be bound to the specific poly it was originally applied to. Can I copy it to another poly or group of polys through the Scene Exp? In case of deformers (called from 'deform' menu, where 'deformer' here means ''no chan...

Re: Noob question (probably)

About midpoint snap, afaik this works if you want to draw a curve with control points snapped to midpoints of mesh, and such. Doesn't work on 'self' (I could be wrong, here). Now, conceptually when it comes to hard surface, for anything complex I've used 'base model', that is, mesh without small det...

Re: Noob question (probably)

Generally, no, unless the custom parameter is created, which is possible to enable for certain built in procedure, only by modifying the code, if I'm correct. If you want to inset a multiple polys in same way, you just do it in one go, select all them and inset. For adjusting, you rely on PPG (toolb...

Re: Blender 2.80 to arrive in 2018

Regarding Unreal Blueprints, as far as I know there's lot of info all around, they even have a Blueprints from Hell site :). However, let's start from official Blueprint Best Practices page , where main purpose is clearly mentioned: ''Blueprints are best suited to making event-driven functionality, ...

Do Blender have tooltips ? if not it should.
Yes it has, if you mean tooltip that appears when hovering around interface. Actually I'd believe it's Blender invention. If they are disabled by some reason, you get them in file>user preferences>interface.

Re: Displaced smoke with emFluid

i read people everywhere talking about cranking up "density". Just confused a bit here, what density you talking about? during the simulation or in the shader? Redshift Volume Material has scatter coefficient, absorption and emission. If i crank up the scatter coefficent everything blow u...

Re: Displaced smoke with emFluid

As far as I know that's photo, heavy processed later. I'd say, shape of that smoke type should be relative easy to get, this kind somehow is matching to old fashion smoke inside particle spheres, like in examples of Binary Alchemy volume particles coming with SI installations, from SI 7 above. Trick...

Re: Utilize full CPU potential

Thank You both Mr.Core and Mathaeus. When I run Maya parallell (example Nparticles with springs), I usually only get a 30 percent load also. So I guess theres no way around it. AFAIK Maya parallel is all about SRT, transform nodes, rigs and such, don't believe it has anything with nParticles. Anywa...

Re: Utilize full CPU potential

By the way, Maya parallel is able to show around 80-90% of all CPUs during playback, and good bit of GPU as well. It scales almost linearly, on 8 cores is almost two times faster than on 4. Of course I don't know what under the hood belongs to that 80-90%, anyway, Maya playback speed is what I'd exp...

Re: Keyboard Shortcut Visualizer like softimage - how?

Do you have any recomendations? How do you verify custom hotkeys and create a visual UI system to do the thing for any software? For now, if I want to assign a custom shortcut, let's say V for move tool, I'm doing a search for everything assigned to V, I'm disabling all of them (or, where is sense ...

Re: Artificial Gravity Sim?

Is there any chance that Syflex has some default air ressistance for more natural cloth animations? :-\ Probably right? :-? That might explain why even when pinned at a null the object somehow "strugles" + the humongous mass input to overcome it. By default, I don't think there's built in...

Yeah.. not sure exactly. You'd have to explain. I like any new ideas. If they are already on Maya path, request no1 is Graph Editor that behaves exactly like Maya Graph Editor - no need to reinvent the wheel here, that part of Maya is very very well accepted and welcomed all around. There is no bet...

Re: Softimage to Bforartists

I'm afraid we have a different understanding of 'placing the shelf anywhere'. Anyway, If they'll choose to go with commercial plugin on top of official release, I'd consider it. Otherwise, if something is not included into official release and it is free, life expectancy is around one year, more or ...
