Re: Mental Gymnastic in H

Hey.:! Yes, the naming of things in Houdini is really, really a pain in the ass! They try to make it better, sure. That´s one of the reasons, its so hard to pick it up on your own. My way was to watch as many tuts as I could before even starting to build my own stuff. That really helps to get the ov...

Re: HOUDINI4SOFTIES: “Rigging a Cable Carrier in XSI and in H"

Hey Draise,
sure, in a way, but it is a bit unfair to campare time directly, because I did not in depth explain what the compounds do and how they work in the XSI setup. Setting up both is fast, if you know what you have to do. :D
And yes, I will try to do some more..any ideas around?

Cheers,
Oli

HOUDINI4SOFTIES: “Rigging a Cable Carrier in XSI and in H"

Hi there, this is a little walk trough of a setup I´ve build for a visualization project both in XSI and in Houdini using more a similar approach and more or less similar tools. Any comments and questions are welcome. If you have any suggestions for some further walk trough videos or tutorials, mayb...

Re: Maya 2018

Yes,that is a huge list. If you don´t fix bugs for years, this list gets longer and longer, doesn´t it. Its always possible to sell bugfixes as features. And if you add features, you can say, we added features and had no time to fix bugs..next time, the other way round ;) I wonder when the famous bi...

Re: Cycles for Softimage

...yes, but CPU is not that bad! I did some tests and it looks interesting! Maybe the author will aim for a GPU version soon. by the way, who is the author? I did not found his name anywhere..

Cycles for Softimage

According to a post in the Softimage-Group on FB, this seems to be an integration of Blender´s Cycles into Softimage|XSI!

Check it out!

Re: Arnold to go rental-only

Nice find, Hirazi ;) Once and for all, everybody by now should know, you can´t believe a single word out of the mouth of an AD-guy. Not that they are liars by intent! I think, that they truly believe in what they say. But in the end, it is not worth the breath, because the evil greed will break its ...

Re: Arnold to go rental-only

HEy Rob, as far as I understand, the rental only is "just" for new lics beginning from next April. So, your licenses will (currently) not be affected by this new "feature" ;)

cheers,
oli

PS: lets chat these days ;)

Re: Arnold to go rental-only

...of course Arnold never was cheap, the problem with the AD rental thing is, "rental only". Rental is absolut OK as long as you have perpetual lics along. But as AD goes for rental ONLY, this was a logical step. Now you will loose the right to OPEN (Maya/Max rental) and RENDER (Arnold soon rental f...

Re: Arnold to go rental-only

...well, at least, perpetuals will end April 30th 2018 ;) 300% price inccrease. not bad, AD, you guys rock! Will give a bit of a boost to Redshift, I guess.. where is the 300% increase? Well. I should write "300% price increase for maintaining new licenses after Apr 30th 2018"... Was to hard to und...

Re: Arnold 5 release

Would not call it "new" though. Marcos was greatful for the support of XSI users, that I think, they will keep it up as long as it is demanded. At least, as long as Marcos is still in charge of certain decisions. He respects customers, other than other people or companies. Because he has passion abo...
