Re: C++ custom tool SDK programming tip
Hey Ahmidou, I think SetupPointLocatorQueries is very slow when you pass -1 (all polys) argument, so its better to restrict search for particular polygons Hi Piotrek, I took some time to run some tests and found out that it's equivalent. The only difference is when moving the camera, when I pass a ...

Re: LivePaint plugin
Thanks! Bugs so far - changing brush size is bugged (diameter is not clipped to viewport, can be < 0 size ) - brush position and point selection is not multipled by source object srt matrix Yes I know about them, I focus on the Undo. As winter is coming here, I should have more time in the next few...

Re: My Wishlist for Softimage 2015 SDK
This is very cool, would definitely be nice if there was a SDK example available to demonstrate that. Hi Reinhard, actually it pretty straight forward, exactly like you would do in an operator or a command: (Selection).GetActivePrimitive().GetGeometry().GetPoints().PutPositionArray() but you can't ...

Re: My Wishlist for Softimage 2015 SDK
+1 but with there being a bottleneck somewhere in the python integration it would be nice to have this sped up first. Maybe have a self compiling C++ ICE node meanwhile =p~ =p~ Should we make this to be a general SDK Wishlist thread? Because another nice thing would be: geometry manipulation suppor...

Re: Spoiler Alert: NO SPOILERS ANYMORE
Particle age should be able to work with everything just not particles: change color of an object, scale etc. To have an age you need a birth, which is non existent in the case of a deformer or any operation on existing objects. You can still modulate any value you want based on the timeline or wha...

Re: User Guide Softimage 2014 online
As soon as I found out that AD shifted XSI development to my country I was thinking it was probably going to go downhill from there, but I was kind of hoping that my fellow Singaporeans would be able to come out with something amazing :X I guess not. Please stop bashing on the new team, the problem...

Re: Who is thinking of stopping there Autodesk subscriptions
This is a copy/past from the new team introduction on the mailling list: We're all based in Singapore btw (so the comments on durians were apt) where the cost of labour isn't that much different from Montreal and certainly much higher (3x?) than in China. And there're more people in the team than th...

Re: Another 3dsmax sneak peak
Funny, many people have a pop at Maya's modelling tools and the way they talk it's as if they're usable. Which isn't really true. Maya's modelling tools are actually pretty good. As I'm using both on a daily basis, I can tell you that it's not my opinion: -Modeling in subd mode is crashing a lot. -...

Re: Another 3dsmax sneak peak
Unfortunately thats a very short sighted viewpoint. In my experience its its virtually always been quicker to take a step outside and say okay what can we do better, using the improved tools / technologies available now compared to 5 years ago and build it from the ground up. It allows you to get r...
