customize layout
Hello, I'd like to know if it's possible to have XSI store or remember it's screen setup when you shut it down, so it will start up with an identical setup. To explain what I mean with 'screen setup': I'm on a widescreen 24" monitor and I like to set my XSI so that it covers the leftmost 4/5ths...

Re: Export camera (to After Effects)
(...)there is another way to achive this maybe more naturally(...) Well, that would be 'naturally' only if you have Maya, wouldn't it? I think actually Adobe is the party at fault in this respect. They've had the .ma import option for years now. Too bad .ma is a licensed and (I've been told by Maya...

Re: XSI 7.01 on Windows 7 - anyone tried?
Difference between professional and ultimate - not really relevant for graphics use, I got it at a promotional deal that hardly cost extra over professional. Often I've noticed the difference between home-professional-ultimate versions of windows are in tweakability. I tend to tweak the bejeezis out...

Re: XSI 7.01 on Windows 7 - anyone tried?
AFAIK no, you can run any 32-bit software under a 64-bit OS without problems but also without any benefit of the 64-bit architecture or whatever it's called. But why would you in case of XSI? The 64-bit installer comes at no extra cost or doesn't it... I can't remember because I switched some time a...

Re: ICE Tutorials you think you want...
Maybe a practical case study on setting up an advanced character using ICE whereever it's possible - for instance, quaternion skinning in a rig that uses not only bones, maybe clothes simulation, hair/fur, sliding skin, cage deformers. I know compounds or ICE setups for all of these exist and often ...

Yes, I am. No problems. Win7 ultimate 64. So far, I like Win7 a lot better than Vista.

Re: This isn't extruding correctly???
I think the problem occurs because your poly isn't centered on your curve - it's to the left of it and SI keeps it to the left. First center the poly so its center is on the curve, then extrude, then translate the mesh as you wish. (something like an 'offset to curve' function would be useful in cas...

Re: Where do we go from here?
My thoughts: I'm a long-time Lightwave user (since the first version up till now) and as such have mainly experience on the Newtek forum. I started using XSI at 6.5 two years ago and what has always struck me about every XSI-related community site is the small amount of Q and A. Over at newtek's, I ...

Re: Softimage 2010 announced
I was financially in no position to upgrade to 7.5 when it came out, nor did the new features strike me as 'must have'. This 2010 upgrade is the same, featurewise: I'm a one man studio and XSI can handle my face-rigging stuff well enough as it is. The no-upgrade thing makes me very sad. Seems as if ...

Wow, I read it (like a chimp with the financial times in his hands looks like he's reading, too). Do you know how to translate this into XSI?
