"Design your own splash screen"-competition
As it has been revealed that Softimage 2010 has as one if it's very important new features the option to change the default splash screen of the application into a bitmap of your own liking, as is described in this article in the Knowledge Base, I propose a friendly competition, to actually design o...

Re: Community Animation Project - getting things rolling!
Okay, as you can see, our Admin owei (Thanks!) has instated a dedicated subforum for this project, so we can stop wondering, what might happen and start to actually make it happen. First order of business: democracy versus leadership! Democracy is a nice little Greek invention, but it can be counter...

@Dixon3d - Trying to recreate your "error messages", I came up with the following: # VERBOSE : 5360 - This plug-in is not compatible with the current platform and will be ignored: # <path: C:\Users\HiraziBlue\Autodesk\Softimage_7.5\Addons\mt_ice_staticInstancer\Application\Plugins\mt_ice_s...

Re: alpha channel
Not sure (not an FXTree wizard), but it should be possible to limit the output (via the output options) of your second picture to RGB (instead of RGBA) and then use your extracted alpha as a matte...

Re: Community Animation Project - getting things rolling!
Well, I sincerely hope the willingness to participate counts for something, not just the level of skill, as that would probably exclude me from the project. I believe, and not just in my own interest, it should be a project in which anyone regardless of skill/talent should be able to somehow partici...

Re: Community Animation Project - getting things rolling!
While I agree, some "story-based" animation might be very interesting, I think that should be considered as a possible follow-up to an initial "Orc-based" (or similar) animation project, as "story-based" increases the stress placed upon the project, especially the first...

Re: Softimage 2010? Anyone???
Well, I'm afraid you're right, but that would mean "someone" (not me!!! )
could easily point out, that this isn't very "nice" (as "someone" would put it very mildly ),
so I am still hoping it is merely a mistake...

Re: Community Animation Project - getting things rolling!
Great to see some strong initiative in this respect!
And now maybe we need a new dedicated home for the project,
a "CAP subforum" so to speak... (owei??? ;;) )

Or if you've got $1039.82 hidden somewhere and feel an uncontrollable urge to spend it =)), you could go for the 16-DVD box-set Richard Williams Animation Masterclass - "The Animator's Survival Kit – Animated", as described here ... But I guess, Letterbox is right, the book is probably a b...

Softimage 2010? Anyone???
On the XSI Mailing List , "rumour" (as the thread was started by Softimage's own Luc-Eric himself) has it that Softimage 2010 has already made an unscheduled arrival in the download area of SOME (as in: not all!!!) subscription members. A mix-up and an unwilling prerelease download seem to...
