Re: ICE Modeling Workshop @ the Mailing List
Edit : I saw that you did the refresh. If re-starting Softimage doesn't fix it, it looks like your python install is not good. Can you give us the full error message ? Does Python even come with Windows 7? I never installed this manually. If this is my problem, then I suppose this is the correct do...

Re: Mental ray in 2012 - whhhhaaaaatt??
OK, now I'm really confused. I just rendered a completely different scene: no ICE instances, just a lot of raw geomtry. 600 objects, 4 million triangles, lots of high-res textures, glossy reflections on just about everything, multiple area lights. 2012 took considerably longer to pre-process, but ev...

Mental ray in 2012 - whhhhaaaaatt??
I just ran some render tests in 2012, and the results have shocked me. I took a scene from 2011 and rendered it in both 2011 and 2012. I changed NO SETTINGS. Pre-processing time is identical in both versions and takes only a few seconds. However the buckets render WAY more slowly in 2012. What is go...

Re: Why S key?
As for the ALT navigation, I put the middle of my palm at the edge of the keyboard and ALT/ Spacebar are pretty much the same effort for the thumb. I do all the manipulation and selection with index finger. This works good for navigating, but with the palm at the edge of the keyboard, C and V are c...

Re: Why S key?
I don't find it difficult to switch from S navigation to ALT navigation in other applications, but I much prefer S because it allows me to put my hand naturally on the left side of the keyboard, with the pinky on Ctrl, the middle finger on S and the thumb on spacebar. For ALT navigation I need to pu...

Re: ICE Modeling Workshop @ the Mailing List
I enjoy reading the list archive on Google Groups because it contains a ton of great information. However, I find participating extremely bothersome and annoying. I've joined it a few times, but receiving dozens of e-mails every day with no good way to sort them into discussion trees like a forum do...

Re: Industry Bias?
I totally agree. Facerobot and ICE Kine are huge, and yet there's very little training material out.
