Re: ice shapes problems

Rather than using link withs, bring in the actual controller local posx or y or whatever, and use that along with a mult by scalar node affecting the input of the shape positions. You can use a clamp or rescale node to change exactly the range of the controller that drives the shape. It has the bonu...

Re: ice ik/fk snapping

OK I've got a test case working using Static Kinestate properties and activated via a boolean. I was wondering if it was possible to set the boolean to deactivate after use yet leave the arm in place?

Is it possible to add then delete a constraint in ice?

ice ik/fk snapping

Hi chaps, I was wondering how I would go about setting up an ik/fk snapping tool - I have a 3 bone arm, blending works fine, but matching ik to fk and vice versa would require a script normally - can it be done just with ice kinematics? DO I have to set up custom attributes somehow? Any tips gratefu...

Re: softimage hotfix.

Seems like the threat of mass beta applications may have worked - luceric just posted a service pack hint on twitter :)

Re: XSI 5 Written tutorials

Do a search on youtube for 'softimage', filter by recent upload date, and check out all the xsi v7 tutorials, literally hundreds that the kind soul acemastermind has been uploading. All a lot more applicable than the v5 tuts.

Re: Limiting XSI's use of cores and RAM

You can also just set xsi.exe to low priority in the task manager. That should allow you to keep on working in other apps while rendering, and not limit cores when you're not.

Re: Animation, where start?

I see it is a cartoon type animation, is the some? Yeah I guess it is more cartoony than naturalistic. The principles it teaches do still apply to more realistic styles of animation though, the application is just more subtle. If you're looking at doing animal movement you can learn a lot from roto...

Re: Animation, where start?

Yeah the book is all drawn 2d, so there's no software distractions. It shows the 12 principles of animation, and breaks it all down nicely. The only other thing you have to consider when starting out on the computer is ways of blocking animation - generally more people these days start out with all ...
