They've fixed a lot of bugs, but its stuff that shouldn't have been broken in the first place, so yeah, underwhelmed...

Re: Arnold to go rental-only

Are those dollar figures accurate?

Vray is £320 rental per year or £50 per month in the UK. But a perm lic is £650, or perm lic with 10 rendernodes for £1750.

11 arnold subs for just one year would be £6050!

Re: How to replace a geometry? (no reference model)

I don't think so, though you could create geo via ICE and input diff vertex data there.

Yeah, that's very underwhelming. Had some hope for modo as one possible option but its got a lot of catching up to do.

Re: Houdini to Softimage, animation with UV Alembic

It was released open source and there is a plugin for 2015, so it may work:

Re: Creating synoptic view in HTML editor?

I once stumbled upon a video that went over this but I think that video was made private on youtube. I'm using the Mod Tool 7.5 version and I find out that saving synoptic views is disabled although you can create them and open them. I would like to know if anyone has any info on making a synoptic ...

Also, check the utilities that come with gear - there are a bunch of invaluable weight related commands including 'prune weights'.

Do you have any plans to port aaOcean to Redshift by any chance? Rendering out vector displacement maps takes up a lot of diskspace :)

That's the kind of thing that I'd be more than happy to help crowdfund, if Amaan was willing :)

Re: How to create image based story board /animatic in softimage

Could try using the camera sequencer? Though it probably works better with simple 3d environments, but 2d planes with textures should work as well.

Re: Redshift 2.0

Baking works well, saved my skin on a recent project where we were camera projecting background textures, but then had to animate a moving camera past where the projection ended - baked ti out, bit of photoshop to fix the missing areas and worked a treat.

Re: removing clusters

A script would be the quickest way - jscript version here: DeleteObj("model.object.polymsh.cls.P*"); Obviously you need to replace the model and object to reference the object you want to get rid of polygon clusters from - though you could use the * wildcard to delete clusters from all obj...
