you need to do the picker thing on the Depth-Material.

to create your own depth material you could use the scalar_state node set to ray length.
in my example i go with the sprite node to involve the alpha.

some dots disappear when setting to "none". but the sampling (AA) of the speculars remains poor...

i used VRAY a lot lately.

now trying Mental Ray again i recognized strange behaviour on specular highlights.
using the default settings, they look blown out.

any idea?

why is that?
Softimage 2015 SP1 cannot co-exist with Softimage 2015. If Softimage 2015 is available on your machine, uninstall it before running the Softimage 2015 SP1 installer.

that would be cool, indeed. but i find it kinda difficult to program a dynamic ppg where you could add multiple custom parameters with a string box...
at the moment you could only edit the python script manually to add specific parameters...

hi
there's something annoying in Softimage 2015.

when i put a geometry under a model and then apply an ice tree to that object, it cannot resolve its own pointposition.
when i move the geometry outside the model and back in, everything is fine until reopening the scene...

whhaaat?

take a look at "VRayMtlWrapper" shader node. there are Matte properties which could get you there.

where do you see a bug?
looks quite ok, only the AntiAlias settings are very low... (this leads to the stepping at the boarders)
