Re: What about Softimaging Blender? SoftBlender?
It would be quite a bit of work, like someone has already mentioned, and would probably require experience in both programs to understand certain subtleties. Also, like someone else mentioned, because the programs are fundamentally different you cannot expect to completely replicate the experience,...

Re: What about Softimaging Blender? SoftBlender?
I imagine you already fully understand Softimage's hotkey interface/interactions/sticky keys/etc., and have the whole thing (in it's core at least), memorized by heart as all great soft modelers/animators/etc. users have. If not, you might want to skip this entirely because your just going to do a ...

Re: What about Softimaging Blender? SoftBlender?
So, speaking of Softimaging Blender, I decided to do it myself. Next week, on my free time, I will port Softimage's Keyboard Mapping as a standalone Windows and Linux app for Blender, for free. Just because it's that easy to do and pretty effective in attracting newcomers so less of them would lose...

Re: What about Softimaging Blender? SoftBlender?
The first release of blender was in 1995. Nineteen years ago. I got a CD Rom with Blender at siggraph in 1998. Even back then there was already a promise that the next version of blender would have a UI revamp that would make everyone happy. Same with GIMP. But you'll always hear people pontificate...

On importance of using GPL/BSD software.
They lied to you . There's a lot of parasites on Earth that can't be noticed by their victims, mind parasites. They force you to think that you have beneficial relationships with them. By the end of the day you're dead, they're continue to functioning, like Rabies virus or Autodesk. It's up to you ...

Re: A more open + crowd funded extra, community driven Softimage
I was a developer on Softimage for 14 years, a team leader for a decade, and the development manager for the whole product as well for many years as well. As if that wasn't pressure enough, there is a bunch of things that they want in Softimage, and can't develop with its limited SDK, necessitating...

Re: Strand Collision Framework
Roughy, you're a man! I remember used your per point array ice node before si 2012 came out, it was super usefull, I'll test this framework since the project I'm working on have to have such kind of interaction between the strands. Thank you for sharing it!
