Cache file could not be found ..... .abc
I constantly get this error message. I'm quite sure that I deleted all files which made use of SIs alembic importer and can't recall that I exported any data from this scene. Since it's quite a huge scene I can't really tell which object might cause the problem. Which way can I find out what is caus...

Re: Context trouble. One more time ...
Crate sucked big time with variables. At least I didn't understand the whole thing. Too complicated. And for an importer that's very bad. SI 2015 SP2 Alembic export works fine. You can export from H whatever you want. In SI I slap an ICE tree onto the geometry which then sets all I want. Like in thi...

Re: Context trouble. One more time ...
Thanks, Matt! Very early this morning it seems I also stumbled across a solution. self.NodeToVertex > Select in Array (Index) Point data > Build array from set > Select in array (Array) Select in array > Set Data Don't know why Autodesk never came up with a page demonstrating all this visually for a...

Context trouble. One more time ...
I ran into this problem again. Context. I want to import custom user normals from Houdini. In SI ICE I can set the Node user normal. I just wonder, since it's in node context, how to transfer my "per point" or "per vertex" vectors into the node normals. I always sucked in terms o...

Is there a refresh button for Alembic in 2015SP2?
Feels a bit strange to delete the imported file and import it back over and over again. ISn't there a kind of refresh button, so that SI replaces it in one go?

Re: Plain Houdini tricks in Softimage style, Volume 00001
Thanks! Somebody else also posted a similar approach on the oddForum. So many logs today to stumble across. Horrbile. But thanks to all the users who helped me up on my feet again. P.S.: In this regard H feels just weird compared to SI. No $ sign, upper and lowercase differences, @ sign or phython c...

Re: Plain Houdini tricks in Softimage style, Volume 00001
The fillets look great. I'll take a look at the oddForce thread. Quick question. Anybody an idea how to get the position of the camera inside of an attribute vop? Like cmr.kine.Global.pos? I managed to get the coordinates inside of a transform node via origin("", "/obj/cmr", &quo...

Importing an alembic sequence with Crate
Is there any magic to it? When I import an alembic file with the ending _0001 and scrub through the timeline noting changes. Also the edges of the fractured object (voronoi from Houdini) show up. I assigned point normals in Houdini. But as I said, it seems to be only the _0001 files which shows up. ...

The scariest thing this year was to drink beer from Cologne, while coming from Düsseldorf. This can be compared to expecting a vampire to drink holy water. : ) No, everything nice as usual. Probably even a bit more interesting since getting so much input from different pieces of software. But then, ...

Re: SI only imports one UV texture via Alembic
Is this working for everybody except me? Also tried to import an .abc from Houdini. Same problem. SI only lists one texture projection, while Houdini imported all three from Modo.
Do I need to transfer the context (vertex, point, primitive) of the UV maps in Houdini so that Crate can deal with them?

SI only imports one UV texture via Alembic
Am I missing something or is this a bug or purpose. The UV textures created in Modo import fine into Houdini, but in SI I only see one of them. Guess I'm using the latest Exocortex version. Anybody with the same problem?

Re: Siggraph week only: LW offer
While NewTek and Autodesk both fucked up heavily in the way they treat their customers, it only counts what remains at the end of the day. So, LW is nowhere near to compete with SI.

Re: Siggraph week only: LW offer
Can somebody please tell me why hobbyists seem to be always offended when they are called hobbyists? They aren't professionals since professional comes from profession, which is a synonym for "job". They don't need to earn their living with 3D, contrary to pros. That is a big difference. I...

Did you dissect the compounds and repair it yourself or is it not loading at all or even crashing?
