Re: I have a license and XSI is not show in my account ??
Hello, If I were you, I would definitely file a support ticket with Autodesk. It is not as easy to find there as you think it would, but when you are logged in, goto the support drop-down and look for "view cases" or something like that, and then in there, there will be a way to actually c...
Re: Maya 2018
@Luceric Since you are here, I thought maybe I could share a couple of ideas that would help bring some things more inline with the new Shift Extrude function, and get your thoughts. Sorry, I totally got out of passing along UI and workflow suggestions. The Maya team monitors the forum here https:/...
Re: Maya 2018
@Luceric I am about to dive into Maya 2018 here shortly, and looking at the features - the Shift Extrude is a big one to me, as similar to a thread on here where we talked about something similar. I filled out the survey to make "Maya more streamlined" right before Maya 2018 came out, and ...
Re: Maya 2018
Edit: I should have looked at the documents a bit better before my previous post. While there seem to not be many "hero" features, there are some nice improvements all-around. The "smart extrusion" is awesome looking and is what I have been asking/looking for, for a while now...t...

Re: Hard Edge with Smooth Mesh?
Hi Mathaeus, Thanks for the help and posting your script. I haven't used MEL yet, so I will have to look into that. I thought I was just missing something and it was something easy, never knew it would be "clicky" to do something so simple. Kind of surprised that Autodesk hasn't streamline...

Hard Edge with Smooth Mesh?
Hello. I have a real quick question, and it is probably something easy that I am missing, but can anyone please let me know how to make super hard edges (razor thin) while using Smooth Mesh? In Softimage, I would just mark the edges as "hard" and then with/without smoothing it would always...

Re: Autodesk Maintenance prices to increase
Unfortunately, there is a negating of the fact of previous ownership , and that is big deal. Walking into rental from the very beginning is one thing and fine with me, because you know that upfront. Investing tons of money and then being forced to rent the same thing you already own, is the crux of ...

Re: Autodesk Maintenance prices to increase
I don't know much about the subject, but I always thought that rent-only authoring software was less of a big deal in CAD, because of stable file formats and the nature of the work. In entertainment, we have to be careful to not accumulate important assets in obscure proprietary formats. This is a ...

Re: Autodesk CEO and President Carl Bass steps down
I feel, that as long as the Educational version still runs on the Perpetual model, you are still going to have Perpetual in the foreseen future. I would rather have a Perpetual License of something if it ever does get sold off...at least I still have something, where with Rental - poof! it could be ...

Re: Autodesk CEO and President Carl Bass steps down
A write up reaction to AD move: http://schnitgercorp.com/2017/03/06/autodesk-subs-hear/ make you think. P.S. This is getting OT, can we separate the thread by extracting the subscription issue into another thread? Thanks Admin I do not know, I think that author seems kind of bias towards subscripti...

Re: Autodesk CEO and President Carl Bass steps down
Thanks for clarifying that. Sticking to Maintenance would still be better once the Subscription go back to full price but I assume that AD will increase Maintenance even more by 2020, so switching to Subscription in June may be the best option... Looking at your numbers, your Maintenance Subscripti...

Re: Modelling tools in Houdini
Thanks for sharing the videos! I have to say, and I only looked at a couple of these videos and not tried Houdini yet myself, but if you are a modeler, there really is no reason not to try Houdini. I had no idea that the modeling was this far along, and the fundamentals seem to be there. If you are ...
