Re: Strands orientation flickering when scaling emitter geometry

Hello Robert_XSI you ICE tree was overly complicated to demonstrate effect so I did not touch it. If I wanted to do what you described it would be done like the way I attached. no flickering I think you are sampling the wrong thing to emit from and also not taking into account the global matrix of ...

Strands orientation flickering when scaling emitter geometry

Hi Softimage Friends! :) I have an emitter for emitting particles strands (not simulated, only modelling mode). I would like to scale the emitter geometry during the strand animation (not simulated), but when I scale the emitter the strands (and the particle orientation), flickers, but only in a ver...

Re: Get the tip of hair that has fizz animation on

Unfortunately, nothing of Shave/XSI Hair is accessible by ICE, except very basic stuff like kinematics or input parameters, which most likely doesn't belongs to Shave at all. State isn't better in other apps with integrated Shave - afaik, there is no any plugin for Max on planet Earth, able to do a...

Re: Get the tip of hair that has fizz animation on

Are you talking about Softimage hair or ICE strands? Your request is slightly hard to understand. Do you have any examples? Thanks all. I will have a look at Kristinka... Sorry, it is real built-in Softimage hair animated in the Effects tab of Hair Generator Operator. By the way, can I attach and d...

Thanks!

Is it in the sample scenes of Softimage?

ICE_FireWorks.scn
or
Particle_Spawning_Fireworks.scn
?

Sorry, but they do not have any hair in it. I need the real deformed endposition of hair (not guides, but deformed hair).

Get the tip of hair that has fizz animation on

Hi, I have a hair with some built-in animation effects on it, and I would like to emit particles from the tip of the animated hair.... I am a bit newbie in ICE. How can I get the tip of hair that has fizz animation on? Maybe in ICE or in other ways (script to convert hair to curves, or sg). Thanks, ...

Plugin for converting model instances to Real meshes

Hello,

Maybe a newbie question, sorry.

Is there a Plugin for converting model instances to Real meshes.

I made a model and instanced it several times (not ice), and now I would like to make 3d meshes of these instances.

Is there a script or plugin for this?

Thanks

Re: Equivalent to Wire tool in Maya

unfortunately it does not work, the cylinder just flattens at the ends completely, when bent 90 degrees.

Equivalent to Wire tool in Maya

Is there an equivalent or a quick solution for the Maya wire tool in Softimage?

I would like to attach a cylinder to a curve as it would be rigged to it. So animating the points of the curve I will have the cylinder following it.

Any ideas?

Re: Colorized burnouts

Thanks Fer for your reply, Unfortunately if I render it out in exr, and try to increase the explosure in nuke (grade node - multiply parameter), then the color does not go to white, only burns into a complete saturated red or white, and does not behave like in real life. Of course I can fake it by f...

Colorized burnouts

Hi! Hopefully i can explain my point well. In a real photo, or in a real camera if i overexpose something, which is colored (much saturated red or yellow), then it will turn to complete white. If i overexpose something in arnold or mental ray, it just stays red or yellow and will never turn to compl...

Unroll a huge billboard (20 m)

Hi Softimage users! I have a tyring task of unrolling a huge 20 m high billboard, and must have wind and all nice details on it. Unfortunately syflex just does not work for this complex collision task, and selfcollision is unusable I think for this, perhaps. So I am collecting ideas for solving this...

Re: Ocean wave effect

There is a sample scene with extended setup based on turbulence node, locates in "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Softimage 2013 SP1\Data\XSI_SAMPLES\Scenes\ICE" and called as "Deformation_Turbulize_Grid_Waves". If it is not enough you can try to use gerstner waves compounds ( that ar...
