Re: MX_Roundish Can't find it anywhere.

If you get the code gibberish, it means your browser doesn't understand the .addon format, as it is partly xml in the header.
Just right-click, or use something else to download the file. ;)

Re: Unreal Engine for free

Yes, there are some hard transitions from DOF to no DOF. I have no idea if this is a limitation of the Editor, or just something that was not set for the captures.

Re: Standalone SI help please

Maybe someone can help you out converting it to FBX or alike, so you can pick it up in say Blender?
(re)using Softimage right now may not be the best way of starting in 3D again....

Re: Unreal Engine for free

Here we go! :) It's funny as I discussed the move to real-time engines for rendering etc. just a couple of days ago... It does and will make sense for a large group of content creators, and the fast advances in lighting solutions for real-time engines will only speed things up. It will be very inter...

Re: Resurrecting Softimage From Scratch

I still have the same set under the desk, paid a bit more at the time though... ;)

All the links to the official training can be found here on the forum, and on YouTube, just in case you didn't know.

Re: Resurrecting Softimage From Scratch

If you want to spend money on a 3d package, my guess would be invest in Blender and accelerate the development there. It's open source and free, but could use some TLC regarding UI and workflow. Money would really help there get it done more quickly. We have to accept SI is gone and done, and nothin...

I extracted the docs from the Mootzoid website, but will need Eric's 'OK' on putting them here as a zipped set.
Just for 'keep sake' ;)

Re: Megascans for SI

Due to the compression, jpeg's for alpha's might not be the best solution for creating geo ;) For some stuff I did it manually, deleting geometry that wasn't needed and splitting the rest up in separate parts. But automating things like this is always preferable :) Let me know about your dealings wi...

Re: Megascans for SI

Wasn't there an ICE compound that uses a B/W image to cut geo directly? And there's a similar workflow for Houdini as well, cannot seem to find the video atm though..... But I agree the leaves/grass stuff is a bit tedious to work with. It would be nice to have some geometry available when downloadin...

Re: Megascans for SI

Haven't really tested the bridge, as it is subscription only, but the materials work as expected. I often run the set through Painter for some additional detail, and the ability to spit out textures for different render engines :) But if it's not working, contact Quixel support on Facebook. They're ...
