Re: Old XSI project not rendering properly.....

Hi, Thanks for your thoughts! A new pass with a new material will render, as with a new material override on the non-rendering pass itself. My theory atm is that the SI|3D subsystem was helping XSI 7 in rendering the converted nodes from SI|3D. But as later versions of (Softimage|)XSI were 64 bit, t...

Old XSI project not rendering properly.....

Hi all, I'm trying to render out a scene coming from XSI 7.0, in SI 2014. The main issue here is that the scene was imported from SI|3D (yes... that old) into XSI 7.0. Rendering works after import and converting the scene into a SI one. But opening the same scene in 2014 renders out completely black...

IMO Blender deserves to be standard, they managed to get very well balanced general 3d app. If not, perhaps we'll be tortured by some Adobe invention, or who knows what else.
Have no fear, Paint 3D is here... ;P

Substance Painter Live Link plugin

From HedgeHog Labs:

Unfortunately SI support is MIA. Arnold, RedShift and EVEE support. :-)

Re: Arnold 5 release

Nice!

I haven't tested Arnold 5 in XSI yet, only in <cough> Maya. I like the new PBR workflow, especially with Painter or Quixel it makes nice renders :)
Although in a lot of scenes RedShift is a lot faster still.

Re: The return of Mudbox?

I wouldn't believe AD on their pretty blue eyes yet...... MB was, and still is a nice alternative for sculpting to ZBrush or 3DCoat. The layer based approach in MB draw me in when first introduced to it. But I haven't touched it in years, and for the 3D painting part there are other more capable app...

Re: mod tool 7.5 on windows 10

Maybe a tip is to install something like VMWare or Virtualbox, and keep older versions of the OS and some apps as a virtual pc.
Especially when doing a lot of web based work this is quite useful.

heck, I once installed Windows 98 again as a VPC just to replay Riven ;)

Re: Need a soft Image master

HI Luc-Eric, Yes, v7 is the last version, you're right. And if I recall correctly, part of SI|3D was embedded in XSI just for being able to import the scene files? There has already been some back and forth emails about the request made, and it will be interesting to see how much is retrievable. Now...

Re: Need a soft Image master

With a Softimage movie you mean a Softimage 3D project/scene right? If so, I don't think many of us have that still running somewhere. There was a time when earlier versions of Softimage XSI were able to open up the old format and convert it, but it was removed after the 3rd? version or so. Might be...

Re: Update to phpBB 3.2.1

Does the forum has a font size preference somewhere? I find the current size (10pt..?) a tad small, especially with large pieces of text.

It's my age dammit! I can't read properly anymore!! @-)

That is a good idea. btw anyone here is invested in ether currency? All the digital currency is still too 'Wild West' for me. The history, hacks, frauds, government regulation and convictions of the early 'settlers' doesn't give me a fuzzy feeling ;) Also, only a handful of people actually made mon...

Re: Any recommended sites for selling industrial design?

Maybe try to contact case builders, like Lian Li, Cooler Master or Antec and see what happens.

Out-side designers might be welcomed...

Nice one! :)

Always interesting to see how certain techniques can be translated to another 3d package.

cheers!
