Re: SItoA_Update_Core 5.1.1.0_& Cryptomatte V 2.0.0b3
Just wanted to note that this 'alpha release' will be removed soon as we (Jens Lindgren and I) iterate on the project.

Re: OpenVDB to Softimage
I can't help really. I have my own custom openvdb ice plugins. I would like to release them one day... but very busy right now.

Re: Agisoft Photoscan as a camera tracker extraordinare
@Pooby, ya, we have used it before over the years to create geo from plates and to use the camera(s) as a matchmove. Without other witness cams there probably is some distortion which isn't accurate but works in camera space. In fact I feel it works better when you have less info than some other tra...

Re: OpenVDB to Softimage
That erroring shader def python file is unreleated to loading the vdb grid... so that isn't your issue (i don't know what it is though) to answer you earlier questions, i don't believe you will be able to use this plugin to load vdb files into other renderers. i would only use this plugin if you wan...

Thanks for your work Rachid... but allow me to point you and others to an area of active development regarding SItoA and Arnold 5.x. https://github.com/caron/sitoa/releases This is an alpha release supporting a lot of new Arnold 5.1 features, including adding support for 'AOV Shaders' so you can put...

//??? I don't understand the ID_UNDEF,ID_STRUCT_CNS,ID_CTXT_CNS constraints here, is this for stopping the users from making wrong connections? //??? left everything in its original state if you had a polymorphic port. ie. take random value factory node. if you wanted it to be scalar when the user p...

Re: changing size/strandsize of .ass archive
one way is to cache to icecache and use the an ice tree to post modify it before going to arnold..
the other is using the python api to modify the ass file, i have done this many times. i have also wrote a script to read the strands from the ass file and set them as ice data for rendering.

you mean the shading along the strand?sant0s wrote:is there a way, to color strands in arnold like in this video?
i heard, its only possible with a custom shader?
yes, use a gradient and use scalar state set to lengthwise hair to drive the gradient

Re: Reimplement ICE Modeling to usable state.
i do not think you can workaround some of the issues you outline... setting topo outside the modeling stack. i also think you are too harsh on ice modeling... the base nodes work fine, yes the compounds can be a bit slow. i think the issue here is more to do with how ice does parallelism and you wil...

i don't follow, 'integration steps'? oleg did the integration of the library into ICE, you have the tools to manipulate volumes now.Bullit wrote:...Can you tell in succint way what you think what should be the integration steps in Softimage?

Re: Announcing Redshift - Biased GPU Renderer
these arnold counts are a bit insane, especially when you start to optimize and use what you really need. Have you seen the WhiskeyTree reel lately? I'm pretty sure they did some hefty optimizing, but still ended up with rendering billions of polys for Elysium.... sorry for the OT on this redshift ...
