Re: PlayblastVR Renderer for Softimage Released
Do you have a tutorial that explains how to render compatible VR YouTube video using your shaders? If you use any of the traditional rendering engines in Softimage and render out an Equirectangular/Spherical/LatLong movie (360°x180° field of view) video file it can be made to work with YouTube 360 ...

Re: PlayblastVR Renderer for Softimage Released
It is cool to be able to pre-vis a scene in VR but how this will be final rendered? Do you have a plan to provide lens shaders for outputting equivalent results from Mental Ray or Arnold? Hi Homam. I've already done that. :) I created the Domemaster3D lens shader port for Softimage that works with ...

Re: PlayblastVR v1.4 for Softimage Released
Can you explain the benefits of your approach over doing previz in UnrealEngine (or Unity)? I get that UnrealEngine involves a little technical knowledge too but the quality achievable via a PBR workflow is far superior to GL renders from Softimage. Plus the UE assets used in Previz might form a ba...

Softimage SPDL Syntax Highlighter Released
Hi. I wanted to mention that I released a new Softimage SPDL syntax highlighter for Notepad++, TextWrangler, and BBEdit. The new modules make it easier for a VFX artist or technical director to edit an SPDL document with an external text editor, and this can speed up your development process. You ca...

Re: Weight Maps Rendered as a Screen Space Texture?
Hi. I thought I would post a follow-up and share my solution to rendering weight maps in screen space using the "Create SSS Lightmap" tool along with a "Color_Sampler" node. This post could be useful to anyone who wants to save Softimage weightmap data to a file texture. http://w...

Weight Maps Rendered as a Screen Space Texture?
Hi. I'm working on a Softimage based angular fisheye rendering tool called the Domemaster3D shader . I'm trying to develop a technique to apply a painted weight map as a screen space texture map. This would allow an artist to use the paint tools to sculpt a "camera separation map" that wou...

Re: how to render a 360° panorama
Hi. I wanted to mention that I have updated and repackaged a version of the LatLong panoramic shader for Softimage. I've created a new custom toolbar that makes it easier to use the latlong shader with a 1 click button. This new LatLong version is distributed as part of the Domemaster3D shader tool ...
