Re: Arnold for Cinema 4D Released

They should have lifted the 5 license minimum requirement a long time ago
It had to do with having enough support to open the flood gates, I think they were sensible...

Re: Arnold for Cinema 4D Released

designed to attract a wider VFX user base Don't think Solid Angle care if more people start using C4D or not. Remember this has been developed by Solid Angle, not Maxon. What's true is that if you already have some Arnold licenses than you can be as flexible as you like: - Houdini, Maya, Soft, C4D ...

Re: Arnold for Cinema 4D Released

Yeah, it's a good renderer, but a very expensive one.
I probably agree this is maybe not the best option for C4D users, also they have an awesome integration of octane (1 license x 4gpus).

They seem to be blinded by the new toy syndrome, I am sure reality will kick in soon.

Re: Houdini Indie Teaser

I have to agree with Graham here, I am die hard softimage user but if I had to do a mocap project today I would do it in Maya no doubt about it. Not only you can do all the re-targeting, but there are also great tools to align the clips in 3D space.. This is compared to Softimage, I understand the n...

Re: PluralSight Buys Digital-Tutors For $45 Million

However, if you're asked point blank what your background is in terms of production experience, don't change subjects, or leave the topic unanswered. The people who are buying the material have a right to know. I'm betting most people simply trust that they know what they are talking about because ...

Re: why not cinema 4d?

I mentioned this before but in case it got lost, I managed to get a 50% thanks to Tim from HelloLuxx.com.

He has plenty of C4D tutorials and also some houdini jumpstarts:

Re: why not cinema 4d?

Hi, Tim Clapham from hellolux has been kind enough to share a code for 50% discount on some of this training in case anyone is interested. I gain nothing by providing this codes, and they will be valid until the end or March. http://www.helloluxx.com/ use code: "softimagetv-c4d" learn. Mas...

You should remove 1,2, and 7 because without the AD devs you're never going to see these...

Re: Why don't gather founds like blender to pay plugins for XSI?

This is actually a very good idea, I am sure a lot of the developers would love to create plugins knowing that there is interest and their base cost is covered by users. However we all know that there aren't that many people capable of doing most of this things, so we kind need keep things real and ...

Re: What if Softimage died?

There is obviously no need to panic, but it's a good idea to consider other options. Personally not sure what will happen but I would guess 90% of the studio that use softimage will transition slowly to Maya. Anyone can change when that happens isn't it? I am a Generalist, and will take a bit of tim...

Re: What if Softimage died?

Well,as I said earlier, I'm about to start a new xsi studio this year. The fact AD aren't keeping me in a stranglehold paying lots for pitiful upgrades each year is starting to seem like a blessing, the more I think about it. As long as the final version is stable then I'm happy to just save the mo...
