Re: LK Fabric from Leonard Koch
Many thanks it appears nicely simple at first sight, at least the construction tree is. Yes, most of our setups were pretty straightforward. We approached the complex stuff like the shoe with multiple pointclouds, each which had a simple setup like this to cover a single part of the model. I think ...

Re: LK Fabric from Leonard Koch
Ok, I've posted an example scene which is derived from the basic setup we used as a starting point on Nike. It's pretty basic but I've replaced all obsolete nodes and added comments throughout so hopefully it will be helpful. It can be found on my website here , and here's a simple mental ray render...

Re: LK Fabric from Leonard Koch
Hi gang, Andy Moorer here. I'll try to put together a sample scene based on the Nike commercials to give some insight into using lkFabric. It's a complex enough system that getting a feel for it takes some struggling at first. Some general quick thoughts from using it on those two commercials... - &...
Re: luxodrome
The "phi" emitter I post on my site http://andy.moonbase.net/archives/1128 here also touches on this.

Don't give up! it doesn't come easy but you will get it I'm sure I struggled with matrices too I think everyone does when they get to that point

Re: TD Survival (ICE) tutorial series
I've enjoyed watching these Alan, kudos and well done! And a belated thanks for creating the ICE vimeo group while I'm at it, your efforts have done a lot for the community, so thank you!

Re: Triggered Deform on surface
I don't know that there is any simple way to explain it, but I'll try... Look at the first video. There is a core concept here that he cleverly uses... I mentioned it in the update to the whirlpool deformer in the resource dump area here on si-community. You can use an inverse of an objects transfor...

Re: ICE - Sine Function Deform Object X-Axis - Help?!
Congrats! You can do a few things with this that might be interesting to you... - You can remove the null entirely and just use point position. To control movement/position of the wave, add a phase shift value (just an 'add' node) prior to your frequency factor... http://andy.moonbase.net/wp-content...

Re: Resourcedump
I haven't messed with the wave curl compound, but there should be some significant similarity between it and the whirlpool deformer. You might try rotating the whirlpool deformer onto it's side and reducing the "funnel depth" value to near zero, then with a low number of turns the whirlpoo...

Re: Resourcedump
Here you go Haimund, this is a v2 scene of the whirlpool deform with an exceedingly useful compound in it which can be used to apply deformations in a space local to the host geometry. The whirlpool and ridged turbulence nodes have been cleaned up and turned into proper compounds, too. In this image...

Re: MCP_Architectural MetaSL Shader for Softimage
Hey Daniel, isn't this shader already available though? I seem to have all of the metaSL nodes from mental mill in 2013 in Autodesk\Softimage 2013\Application\phenolib\msl.

Re: offical features for softimage 2014 & we have a NEW logo
@superpositive thank you for the kind words. :) @bullit - your point is well taken, and has merit. Cinema4d, as well as tools like after effects and the trapcode plugins etc are very accessible and this is enabling for many artists. I just wanted to point out that artists should not fear seeming com...

Re: offical features for softimage 2014 & we have a NEW logo
ICE needs a a way of thinking that is different, because the language is different. Many artists don't care - or even know - for arrays, matrixes, how to deal with context issues and like. Many artists don't care or even would want to care since it is their cpu brain power not being employed direct...
