Re: WHAT?! Facebook to acquire Oculus VR
So before you heap all the blame on FB/Google/MS or yes even AD, remember that the people who owned and were developing the product ALSO agreed to sell. This is totally true. Even promise was given , but Palmer changed his mind all of a sudden. And the reality is a hard lesson, that as you've seen ...

Re: WHAT?! Facebook to acquire Oculus VR
http://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/21cy9n/the_future_of_vr/ People are really mad. It's like that day when Softimage has been sold to Autodesk, everybody knew it was the end, just a matter of time. I like being in the community of people who value openness more than a progress of big corporati...

Re: Migration to maya/max = turn the other cheek
The phrase "class action lawsuit" had run through my head. But would there really be any legal grounds for it? With no prejudiced to any party and speaking in general, it's best not to ask such advice like this on a forum, for a definitive answer with no emotional attachment to the subjec...

Thanks, please do keep them coming...
Also on the c4d page listing all the plugins, am I right in saying you can only use the R15 plugins, eg it has to be compiled for a specific version of c4d. ie. no using R12 plugins in R15?

This was an interesting read... http://forums.cgsociety.org/archive/index.php/t-893642.html I would hope Srek could add to it here in saying what's changed from 2010 to 2014+. Sadly not that much. Thanks to the pretty powerfull XPresso functionality of the new Dynamics the combination of TP and Dyn...

Re: Anti-Autodesk Strategies
So ADSK is convinced they marketed softimage at the best. Is a shame the entire world did not notice Nizar, I agree with luceric "time machine" logic, of what was done is long since past and there aint no turning the clock back. But you honestly cant blame Autodesk for not doing tutorials...

Re: What if Softimage died?
I don't want to rain on your parade, but why would Autodesk want to enable a competitor? They acquired Maya and Softimage so that they owned the majority of the 3D market. The premise of stopping Soft would be in part on a transition of users to Maya. If they then sell Softimage (which, without sel...

@Letterbox - while it's always nice to hear from you, I would very much appreciate it, if you could tone down your insults at our expense just a little. Re: What if Softimage died? I've been on the lookout for Softimage and recently found this forum. Now, seeing this is the most popular thread, kin...

Does EVERY thread have to turn into a Suicide Watch. And you then wonder why AD don't accept your offers of posting here...really!!?? Know every day there are people downloading from Redi-Vivus.com, which IS exactly what XSI needs - new users. I hope realize that the complicity in your attitude is t...

Re: How to manage huge number of data (more than 18000 nulls)
Cal, thats a good point about putting the nulls in a group, but note grouping object can take some time - specially on large counts. Thinking about this, i wouldn't use nulls paths etc, i'd try vectors - start and end with interpolate and do it all in ice, if you have a serious multicore machine, IC...

Re: How to manage huge number of data (more than 18000 nulls)
Hi all, First of all, Happy new year. I try to find out how to do this kind of video (http://422.com/work/422-south-data-visualisation-reel at 0:40). I have data for a large number of aircrafts (from 18000 to 32000) over time. I'm able to import all of them in softimage as Null object, with animati...

Re: Questions re: rendering for print
Go to 'Render Manager', check on 'override scene render options', click 'output formats'. In that ppg, disable 'maintain picture ratio'. Enter your 3780 and 840, keeping the pixel ratio 1. (Optional save preset if needed). Click 'Apply'. Make sure all items are checked in dialog box, then click 'ok'...
