Re: Help with rigging a shoulder bag to a body
I typically use a few nurbs straps for things like this. Basically, make a nurbs strap like you did the curve. Gator the weights from the body to the nurbs. Cluster constrain null/controller/deformers hierachy to the nurbs strap (how ever many controls you want). Duplicate the first nurbs, and defor...

Re: Dual Quaternnion & Global Scaling
well I can get things working with either Global Scaling, or deformer scaling. But not both. the built in XSI DQ ice node gives me deformer scaling, but not global scaling. And I managed to hack an old "Bone based deformation" ice node to give me global scaling, but not deformer scaling. l...

Dual Quaternnion & Global Scaling
Hey All. I'm trying to get the DQ ICE Op working on a rig, but am hitting walls with global scaling. The DQ seems to support scaling of the deformers just fine. But doesn't seem to be able to handle global scaling of the rig. the rig scales up & down fine, as it should, but when rotating control...

Re: why not cinema 4d?
Cinema is a toy, don't be fooled. It sits nicely on an individuals workstation, who uses photoshop, after effects, and illustrator religiously. They show all their friends the cool 3D text they can make, and how they can orbit around it, and change materials. Ooooooo look, I can clone an object. And...

Re: why not cinema 4d?
lol, the cinema guys never quite fully 'get' what SI's passes & partitions or maya's render layers are. Contribution maps!... Ha! Object buffers are not the replacement for any of that advanced rendering stuff. Sorry, but nothing exists in c4d like that. it's just not a production tool. I won't ...

They still own everything softimage. Just because they don't sell licenses, doesn't mean you can use their software cracked.
SI doesn't belong to you. Sorry

Adsk generates about 400-600 million dollars in revenue EVERY quarter.
Wait. Wait.. You think your money matters to them, lol.

That video is great stuff. It was a joy to watch. Things have come a long way since back then, no? Lol

Re: What if Softimage died?
I think I can agree with most everything you said. I like SI for the same reasons. But isolating yourself within a specific software doesn't necessarily give you a leg up. "testing software" isn't usually enough, as people tend to try and migrate workflows as opposed to learning "diff...

Re: What if Softimage died?
if you only know softimage, then chances are you don't have much experience anyways. picking up a new software pack is only a different fork in the road. if you have lot's of experience, and only know softimage... what happened? are you generally just not curious about anything? suck it up or get th...

Re: What if Softimage died?
Hopefully soon, the software used becomes more and more transparent. With things like "fabric creation splice engine platform" ;) that should have autodesk suits biting there nails. sometimes I think people treat their 3D software of choice, as if they can only choose and use one. When the...

I would think the best approach would be to use whatever 3D software, whichever company is willing to pay you the most to use, and be stoked.

9. Grab the output of the parent joint and select "Inverse World Matrix" (What kind of name is that??? Jesus...) I'm fairly certain "Inverse world matrix" pertains to all 3d apps, and linear algebra in general. not just maya. Ohh really???? I thought it was for turning the world...
