Kinect as a virtual camera ?
Hello people, Yesterday I was looking for some solutions for using a kinect device as a virtual camera. Every app is interested in motion capture the human body but some app like skanect show in 3d view the camera path after a scan. I was wondering if it was possible to extract that data and use it ...

Looking for a spot
I can't remember if it was for a design conference but it was quite long.
It was full 3D and it showed some minerals building itself. Like bubbles appearing on top of each other and the camera was following and going up. It could have been made with ice but i'm not sure.
Any idea?
thank you.

Redshift is available, some features are under development but people are using it in production already.
The team is quite responsive. Plus the renderer itself is fast.

Re: Dotted Line with Explosion
It's something i've been thinking from time to time. When you look at engraving drawings for example it's obvious the hand shading is following the shapes of the geometry but not quite. And when the camera moves this 'texture' remains detached from the object it's not completely attached to the obje...

Hello Chris I saw your video 'painting with ice'
https://vimeo.com/36448859
Did you make anything of it? seemed promising.
Have you thought of making something similar but with 3D geometry ? the direction would rely on facets orientation rather than contour, think hatching effect or engraving.

That is very correct sir.Lord Futzi Voldemort wrote: I think one of the Si users fears caused by the assumed death of SI is the thought of having to use maya the way it is today.

Re: how do I compute a refraction pass for DOF?
ah yes thank you, I remember having tried that once.
but the refraction with the same IOR was different than the beauty pass, so couldn't use it.
Remember reading here recently someone having problems with that kind of shader, returning black for IOR different than 1. Don't know if it was the same.

how do I compute a refraction pass for DOF?
Hello people. I tried to put my glass object inside a sphere which had a scalar state shader which return raylength. My glass object has slight variations of grey on the borders somehow like an incidence shader. So it seems that is working, some rays travel further than others. But when i try to add...

How to place specular/reflection precisely on objects ?
Hello people i was wondering if there is a tool already made in ice or something else that could help positionning lights so that their specular hit an object in a certain manner. Something a bit like lightpaint in hdrlight studio but for lights. http://www.hdrlightstudio.com/lightpaint.htm Or do yo...

Override the different materials contained in a partition?
Hello people. Let's say i have different objects with different materials and at the partition level i want to assign a render channel to those objects, like an ID matte for example. But without touching the different materials themselves. How I do that? It seems the override work only with a materi...

Re: sIBL_GUI For Softimage
First, Thanks for making this available. I have two minor requests, when i tried the recent version sometime ago, launch time was very long, probably because my pc is not on the internet, so I stopped using it. Secondly the download links are not easy to find you should make them more visible and th...
