Re: Modo 601 Preview
They did so every new release. You're right, I even knew this, :ymblushing: but seem to have successfully blocked it from memory (or maybe I'm just getting too old...) What I find even more disturbing however is the fact that it seems all side-grade offers have expired before the trial came online....

Re: Fabric Engine v1.0 released
Ah, the curse of our name. We thought we were being clever - a Fabric is a weave of many threads, so a Fabric Engine is a machine that weaves many threads together :) We kind if disregarded the issues of using the words 'Fabric' and 'Engine' when selling software to 3D Entertainment people. We will...

Re: Modo 601 Preview
Is it even possible to get ICE particles into modo? It's Maya nCache right? I'm debating rendering in modo or vray right now.

Re: Fabric Engine v1.0 released
Yeah I think it should just be called "Squishy Engine".

Re: ICE 2 Max Advice
Ah right, I saw this particle "send to maya" thing work but I didn't know it worked in Max also. I wonder if the cache files are bigger because of this or if they are the same size as any typical caching scenario in SI. I'll give that a go.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: ICE 2 Max Advice
oh ok, that's a bummer about the ICE 2 Max particles thing. I don't really want to spend a 1000 bucks on a license for Krakatoa. I've been using an old copy of XSI 6 for a while now so I'm kinda behind on things. So I would do all my rendering in SI based on what I've seen in the trial, except I don...

Re: Fabric Engine v1.0 released
Man, that secondary muscle jiggle is super nice! Very exciting though I'm not sure just anybody would be able to use this. I guess that's not the point of FE 1.0 however.

ICE 2 Max Advice
I'm pretty new to complex particles and dynamics and I absolutely adore Softimage for other things. I'm thinking that I want to use ICE particles with max to render because most people I work with use Max and not softimage for rendering. Now there appears to be a lot of Max plugins for particle and ...

Re: 2D-CGI Ninja Turtles - complete episode
It appears you are using a cel-shader for some things and a regular diffuse shader for others. Is the plan to convert everything to cel shaded after the animatic?

Re: 3delight tests
haha, alright. I didn't realize you were mixing in AO and Radiosity bounces in with this. Secondary bounces being vertex, first bounce passes are at pixel level I guess. Your terminology is different from mine, much more specific and technical. Anyway sounds interesting of course, it's hard to not w...

Re: 3delight tests
oh wow, baked vertex colors. So it's kinda like Zbrush where you bake the vertex colors to bitmap?

Re: 3delight tests
15 minutes sounds pretty darn fast for precedurals and reflections. How would it not play nicely in a sequence? Or do you mean 15 minutes after baking the procedurals to texture? Anyway, this sounds pretty cool if it's just a matter of baking in the textures.

Re: 3delight tests
Hi Mathaeus, really nice renders as usual. I particularily like this one because the reflections look really nice. In your opinion, after optimizing your settings, are these renders fast enough for animation projects with just a few computers to render with? Are we looking at one hour per frame or m...

Re: 2D-CGI Ninja Turtles - complete episode
Donatello, April and Splinter have skins from the actual show, the other turtles do not.. which look better? At first I though the colors were some kind of bug, but after watching your movies again, I think it's an unique color expression, a little poppish with strong colors, I like it. So I say ke...
