Re: Jitter on Camera animation when camera has a constraint

Actually I solved this already, sorry, should have updated the post. I was an idiot, the camera was using smooth tangents on its keys, but it was constrained to a null which was still on stepped tangents X_X

Re: Great work done with Softimage

And now, something completely different:

This is all 3D animation. :-o

They use XSI for animating. The game is apparently running on UE3 :)

I'm going to try and port my JScript IK/FK solver that I got from a tutorial a few weeks ago after I finish th...

Re: The road to Maya (yes, Maya)?

So here’s the deal: as much as it pains me to admit it, I currently see no other choice than to take Autodesk up on their offer to migrate to Maya. As to the why, let’s just say that the decision is purely a financial matter and leave it at that. As this is the Migration forum I’m sure you all know...

Re: Asian Retirement POV?

Well, I'm not really a production artist and my education for CG has been at DigiPen in the US, so I'm not sure I'm qualified to comment in here...but I guess since I'm posting so much these days...might as well! As a Singaporean, though, I know XSI was used at OneAnimation in Malaysia for quite som...

Re: pass manager

This question was asked exactly on the mailing list a while back, but wrt MitoA. I'm a bit crunchy right now with my final year project (animating and compositing X_X) But here was my response, if you run into problems or need more details/example scenes (where Maya is concerned) feel free to ask, I...

Re: Softimage 2015 - What's new

What?! The 'tab' stuff and general ICE UI enhancements sound really nice! And this: Displaying Softimage on a single screen Y ou can set the new XSI_SINGLE_SCREEN environment variable to display Softimage in the primar y monitor , even when you use the dual screen set up ^:)^ Whoever was responsible...

The amount of ICE UI improvements look really awesome; but too bad I'll probably never get to use them unless I find a studio who is committed to XSI =\

Re: non-AD Character Animation?

Oh boy animation discussion! :D As an animation student, I personally do not like Blender, but apart from XSI/Maya it is the only package I feel that has a UI suited for it. 3ds max is alright, depending on the rig (no CAT for me thanks...), but ultimately there isn't anything else that comes to clo...

Re: Constant keyframe, how ?

Hi, I swear, i've in memory a way to lock a value on parameters, like putting a "constant keyframe", not setting an expression with the value (more hard to change). How can i do that, i can't find anything in the manual... Is my memory right ? You can lock any parameter value by right-cli...

Re: Switch between PPG items

Hi. A couple days ago i just mention that there is no hotkeys that helps switching between PPG items. I mean there is no functional hotkey in Softimage that switching between the PPG items just like the TAB hotkey in Windows do. For example it would be greate to apply bevel\extrude\push etc , press...

Re: How to convert position animation to singular path animation

Hi; I have an object that has its posx, y, and z animated. I want to be able to extract the path of this animation using, say plot>Curve. Then I want to be able to path constrain another object to this extracted path which is supposed to follow the keyframe animated object, so I need to calculate t...

Re: WeighMap-ShadedMode

You can try turning off Property Maps in the Visibility Options as well but that doesn't sound like default behaviour. Do you mean that anytime you rotate your viewport while not in weight painting mode, it defaults back to Constant shading with the weights visible?

Jitter on Camera animation when camera has a constraint

Hi all! I'm having a bit of an issue with camera animation. Right now I would like my camera translate Z to be constrained to a character as he moves in space. So what I did was constrain a null to the character, and then directly connect my camera's parent null translate Z to the constrained null u...
