Re: How to make straight strand like tron

Just an idea, you could play with self.ShapeResolutionU or self.ShapeResolutionV.
These are somewhat hidden features in ice, maybe if you set one of them to 1 they just connect the strandpositions without interpolation.

Re: ICE parenting on referenced model - bug?

Some things I needed to do in ice-rigs to make them work: Make sure the positioning is completely done in ice, so positions, scaling and rotations are exclusively set in ice, make sure the object you are controlling has no parent that has influence on the position of your object, no constraints etc....

Re: Arnold Thumbnails

I think it's somewhere in the docs, thumbnails don't work in sitoa and its better to disable them because they can cause crashes if you try to use them.

Just call this Softimage Service Pack 3.
Next hack will be Softimage 2016.

We don't need autodesk! :)

Re: morphing moving sequences

Thanks! That tracking idea is very interesting, I'm sure I'm going to use that somewhere someday. I think it's a good idea to try in fabric, since there's a bitmap context, just wish they had some more options to control things like with animationcurves etc. For the moment I don't have time to make ...

morphing moving sequences

I'm trying to connect 2 aerial shots by morphing between them, but the fx-tree is crashing all the time. Is there a workaround to avoid the crashing? For the moment it crashes each time I go to a certain frame, there are no keyframes at that position, no idea whats happening... I know fx-tree is an ...

Re: Why an Indonesian studio choose Blender over 3ds

Not saying it is not developed, i'm just pointing out how much it is a developers playground, but not always in the best way.

Great things are made with blender, no doubt about that.

Re: Why an Indonesian studio choose Blender over 3ds

Do you have any examples Forton? Since it's a long time ago I used blender my example will be outdated, it had to do with exporting or importing fbx, couldn't find a way in one direction or the other, I think it was export... So I looked for another example because now i'm more interested in alembi...

Re: Why an Indonesian studio choose Blender over 3ds

I have mixed feelings about the rapid development advantage. I often have the feeling that new tech is implemented in blender just to show of some programmer's skills and then not finished to a level that makes it really usefull or fun to use. Sometimes a company behind the software with a certain g...

The watermark isn't usually as visible as this example (maybe because of the black background) but personally I would always prefer a showreel without watermarks on top of my work.

And if you want it really simple you can deform hair with envelopes and jitter, maybe shrinkwrap to keep it underwater

Re: How to : hair on water effect

You can start with the same setup but not simulated. Move the emit-strand and pointposition nodes to an unsimulated icetree, don't forget to delete the simulation stack otherwise only frame 1 is calculated. I think this is a good starting point for your rig. You can control turbulence etc. with valu...

Look in ice>create>dynamic strands. Set gravity very low or "negative" to create floating hair.

Re: Max, or Maya?

I wouldn't trust the link to that store you mention.
I never saw a website where you could purchase autodesk products just like that, at least not in europe...
If I'm not mistaking you can't really buy softimage anymore, maybe you still can rent it as part of a suite with max or maya?
