Re: "Cheap" animation course?
Keith Lango stuff is good but personally I think you will get more out of it if you already have a certain experience, if you are a total beginner I recommend Jason Ryan tutorials, that start just like you want, basics, intermediate and advanced. http://www.jasonryananimation.com/tutorials.html He h...

And for people like me that "dont build" when can we expect to see something we can play with? Or its just a TDs wet dream for a long time to come?EricTRocks wrote: This means you can build your tools faster, fix bugs without waiting for AD, and add new tool types as well.

Re: Revolutionary Dreamworks animation software
Yeah that is unbelievable. To the point of bullshit. Im pretty sure you guys understood that the realtime viewport rendering its not the FINAL render image quality right? Even Maya has some nice tricks on its viewport 2, also on Cars Pixar already had the tech to display almost identical final rend...

Re: Animation Learning (no tech way)
KL Tuts might be a bit "boring" for a beginner, I mean they are great if you already know something and he explains the whys. But they are very cheap right now it wont hurt you to have them as well :) Jason Tuts are a lot more dynamic and he loves to teach and you can see and feel that pas...

Re: Animation Learning (no tech way)
If she really wants to Animate and skip the tech part for now, why don't you guys use Softimage? You have the tech knowledge so she will only concentrate on the Animation learning part. There are free rigs available for Softimage that are more than adequate to just learn the basics, even the Gear te...

Re: What about Softimaging Blender? SoftBlender?
But rather than just throw money at Blender.org, maybe it makes more sense for individual Softimage users to form a collective (perhaps through SI-Community) and for that group to make the Blender donation. The amount donated will be much larger and should command much greater attention. Or perhaps...

Re: Animated Features done with Softimage ?
Which making of (where XSI was used in the beginning for the Aerial view ) are you talking about ? Tekkonkinkreet or Monster in Paris ? I was referring to Tekkonkinkreet, sorry if I wasn't clear. Howl's Moving Castle also used Softimage to Rig and Animate the Castle Parts: http://www.imdb.com/title...

According to the Making Of, Xsi was only used in the very beginning for the Aerial View of the movie, they mapped the hand painted textures to 3d geometry and it was basically it.Hirazi Blue wrote:Tekkonkinkreet

Re: Idea for a tool : tweak weights
Yes that what I thought at first... but it didn't worked, Softimage would also start scrambling the already painted weights on other areas by redistributing the smooth influences... this was in 2013, I haven't used Softimage since last year, im now in Maya land, fortunately only as an animator or el...

Re: Idea for a tool : tweak weights
Looks like a promising tool :D , specially because I personally have a hard time using the Smooth Weights in Softimage, having the need to first Select all the point I don't want smoothed, Lock their weights and Smooth, then Unlocking everything again, very tedious for me. On a side note but pertine...
