Re: Cycles for Softimage

Do you plan to make Cycles for Softimage compatible with rendermap ?
Bay the way, thank you very much for this addition to Softimage : Cycles is very powerfull, and it's a step forward to move to blender :-)

CRATE Alembic 1.1

Hello,
I'm using CRATE Alembic 1.1 for Softimage 2014. When I import a model into Octane for rendering, materials are not exported. Is there a way to export each material ?
Kind Regards,

Re: Used Softimage License

my question is if it would be possible to buy a "used" one from one who will switch to another software In a judgment, Oracle was forced to allow this... http://curia.europa.eu/jcms/upload/docs/application/pdf/2012-07/cp120094en.pdf But recent move to cloud license, etc. is a way to reduc...

Importing Vertex color information

Hello, I would like to import vertex color information of a scanned mesh ( http://cubify.com/Products/Sense ) . When I import the mesh as .3ds, almost every single face has a material (3000 different materials, softimage do not like so many materials). I would like to know if there is a workflow to ...

Re: What if Softimage died?

Hello, When I arrived at the office this morning and read the opinion of Eric, and then open Softimage... I feel uncomfortable. While I agree with him, but it does not please me ! I'm just afraid that with this kind of statement, third party editor will stop developing for Softimage even sooner as t...

Re: Retopo Tools

Hello, Really nice plugin, thank you ! A question about retopo : is there a way to snap a selection of edges to a surface (without Shrink Warp). Actually, when I snap a selection of edges to a face only the center of selection is constrain to the mesh surface... Would be nice to have this option in ...

Re: How to Unfold without affecting all UV

that is true there is a workaround ! First Unfold your object. Then apply another projection (ie planar). Go to the UV editor, select the UVs you want to preserve. Copy thos UV to the tempory planar projection. Then Go back to the Unfold layer UV. You can re-unfold. Unfortunatly it changes all UV, b...

Re: How to Unfold without affecting all UV

Hello,
I'm afraid it's not possible.
even if you pin sample UV points they are affected by unfold operator.
It's a big issue with Unfold implementation, it should preserve at least pin samples.

Re: TR Preset

Hello sOBE, Really nice ! (faster than saving preset). I use everyday TR_Merge (really usefull). Just a few ideas of improvements : - TR_Merge would be nice if the animation of the parent object were preserved ? - TR_Precise would be usefull it works also in Texture Editor ! - TR_Preset would be nic...

Re: What if Softimage died?

Financially speaking, it's a lot better to have N users for 2 apps rather than N for 3. "For fiscal year 2012, Adobe achieved record revenue of $4.4 billion." ( http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/pressroom/pressreleases/201212/Q412Earnings.html ) Whereas Autodesk 2012 revenue : $2.2 billion ...

they don't give up until they find a solution to your issue You are lucky. I do not know if it's because of my poor English or because I'm not a good customer (only 2 subscriptions), but I'm very disappointed with the customer service. In the latest issue : I understand that they do not want to fix...

Re: What if Softimage died?

"Continue using Softimage for a few years to come" +1 Maybe Softimage is already dead considering Autodesk new features development ? But frankly, Softimage is still very nice to use, with 3rd party render it's a very competitive tool (Redshift !!!). It could be a good idea to develop more...
