Funny, I gave all the light profiles "descriptive" names and it seems Pixar kept those names. See here https://renderman.pixar.com/view/DP25764
They were used in Softimage first!

Re: Renderman 21
The IES lights are from my personal collection, woot! I was contacted about inclusion with the updated Renderman release. However, I was contacted by a few other renderer developers and said "sure" to them all... so not an exclusive set of IES lights, anyone can download them from my site ...

Re: Where can you still buy Softimage?
I see.
I don't believe I'm incorrect tho. AD can't restrict the sales of an upgrade to anyone. But they can require a previous license for it to run. But now we are just talking in circles for the sake of talking in circles.
Fun.

Re: Where can you still buy Softimage?
if that were true, any software upgrades would be illegal, because they all require that you own a license of the original product. They did change the requirements for the transition bundles a few months into it, probably because it's too hard to manage I'm not following you. During the last 2 yea...

Re: Where can you still buy Softimage?
I'm in the US and you can buy and sell (previously purchased) permanent licenses of AD products. I got some work in 3ds Max and purchased a permanent license from fellow 3d artist. AD transferred the license without resistance. The process was as simple as filling out a form, both parties sign the f...

Re: Softimage and 4k monitors
So what is the largest monitor Softimage will work with under Win 7 & Win 10? This could effect my choice in future upgrades.

Re: Softimage 2014 forward compatible with 2015?
Also trying to figure out what is going on with the 2015 Crosswalk release, or lack of. http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/softimage/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autodesk-crosswalk.html A full installation release of Crosswalk 2015 is missing. The download link for 2015 includes Max/Maya plug...

Softimage 2014 forward compatible with 2015?
I can't find this info anywhere, is Soft 2014 forward compatible with 2015. For example, can you open a 2015 scene with 2014? I realize normally this isn't possible, but so little changed in 2015... wondering if anyone has tested. After a series of poor releases & an absurd off-subs policy, AD h...
Re: Unity 5
So what is the story with the (lack of a) crosswalk 2015 release? On the download page there only exists plugins for Max & Maya, no independent installer. Are we going to get hosed? http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/softimage/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autodesk-crosswalk.html I actuall...
Re: Unity 5
Amazing. Looking forward to this release, actually pre-ordered. Working in Unity has been nothing less then a joy. And it keeps getting better and better.

Re: AD: pay as you go...
Part of me wishes Autodesk would just go ahead and EOL Softimage so that I could get off the Subscription train once and for all and stop lamenting the abuse the company repeatedly heaps upon Softimage users. I agree. Would rather not bleed out. Could we get a migration offer? Or do we just bleed u...

Re: Softimage 2014
Is it possible for me to upgrade to Softimage 2012 SAP specifically? It seems all studios and freelancers are sticking to this release. Can I buy a specific version without support? I'm currently running Softimage 2011sp2.

Re: Who is thinking of stopping there Autodesk subscriptions
Under Avid, a current license of Softimage (a license without sub) would unlock any previous version.

Re: Who is thinking of stopping there Autodesk subscriptions
I didn't mean to be confusing by stating a specific version and service pack. I was just using it as a reference to an older version (not current version) of Softimage. If a studio is working on a project & pipeline using any version of Softimage prior to the current version, they can not add se...

Re: Who is thinking of stopping there Autodesk subscriptions
Autodesk is forcing the subscription model. By having 2-3 sub-par releases, many studios (on or off subs) remain with version 2012sp1. Under the Autodesk licensing policy, any new seats or upgraded seats must be on subs to use version 2012sp1. Softimage also has a large freelance pool, and those fre...
