Re: Polygon "Rotate Polygons-Compound", adjust rotation

Hey :)
I will!
Still waiting for the final look to press the render button.
Cheers,

Re: Polygon "Rotate Polygons-Compound", adjust rotation

Thx again, FXDude! :)

the UNFURL helps, at least now I understand how to use the NULL to modify the vectors.

Will try to combine all of it today, maybe thats the last tile of the puzzle.

greetings,
sant0s

Re: Polygon "Rotate Polygons-Compound", adjust rotation

That are some extreme sweet setups, so crazy stuff... :D Ill check if I can sneak a code snip in his videos. ICE modeling is just so cool and I guess, when you know it, its very quick. I am sometimes playing around with houdini, too. Trying to do simple ICEStuff there. Many things are genius, I like...

Re: Polygon "Rotate Polygons-Compound", adjust rotation

Thx FXDude! :) The attached video is actually more or less, what I need. Its only one pass. I use the same values to modify the domino stones, to control the opacity of the Earth. Of course its still full of ugly artefacts, wrong spreading, wrong color, etc. But now I have to change it to the ICE pa...

Re: Polygon "Rotate Polygons-Compound", adjust rotation

here is a little test btw. the right and left side do not look so nice because of the orientation, thats the reason why I want to rotate away from null. the grow effect is still spherical, but will change that to more irregular shape by weightmap grow. :) [media]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeVYa...

Re: Polygon "Rotate Polygons-Compound", adjust rotation

Great, thats helping! I also got a step closer and have the vectors back, attached a scene. Problem is, that the force will push the vectors global, even when I change the compound inside to local. So at one position the vectors are perfect and as soon as the NULL drives around the Sphere, the vecto...

Re: Polygon "Rotate Polygons-Compound", adjust rotation

yea, unfolding is the right word. :D
Cool, Ill try also if I find out what I did yesterday, I think "normals" of the Null are what I am looking for.

Cheers. :)

Re: Polygon "Rotate Polygons-Compound", adjust rotation

Hi :) right now, I emit cubes per "add point" equal on every point of the sphere. These cubes are align by the emitter spheres tangente I guess, with the compound "Align Particles to Surface". Than I add the emTools Local Rotation, to rotate the cubes on its pivot positon to 90 degres. The null than...

Do you use a browser addon like uMatrix that switches user agents every few minutes? (That's what happened to me )
Thx, its exactly that! :)

Re: Polygon "Rotate Polygons-Compound", adjust rotation

I will @RRay, also post the scenes of the setup. But I have two more questions (writing this now the third time becouse somehow I always have to login again and alle written stuff is gone :D :). I attached an image what I try to get. At the moment the instance shape rotates on its pivot (bottom poin...

Re: Polygon "Rotate Polygons-Compound", adjust rotation

Hey FXDude, thats absolut what I need, its so nice fast. Just two questions - I addad a scene where I controll the angle of the polys by a NULL. I tried, to get the local vector of the NULL to drive the orientation of the polys. In the scene I tried it, but something seems not to be correct. And ano...

Re: Polygon "Rotate Polygons-Compound", adjust rotation

thats perfect, thank you guys! :) I also tried it with a particle system and used emTools "Local Rotation". Thats very fast and gives me actually the effect I need. But without a texture. I attached the scene. I also found this little helper: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/xsi_list/f_cmEx0P...

Polygon "Rotate Polygons-Compound", adjust rotation

Hey together :) Attached is a model of a timezone in russia, that I need to "roll". Goal is some kinda Domino effect. When I use these ICETree on a planar sphere, the polygons look all into one direction and are not bended. When I operate it on a sphere (the geometry is a sphere and than cut by Text...

Thx @FXDude,

never ever used these options before - good to still learn new tricks and workflows in SI. :)

Re: Split / cut Texture_Projection by cluster

thank you, it works now! :)
I used the way to disconnect the clusters. that gives me a clean and easy uv to edit.
when I zoom super close, the points also start to snap since its the max resolution or something.

thx,

Re: Split / cut Texture_Projection by cluster

Hey FXDude, something I stuck at, is that the new UV will look very messy, like I unfold a complex geometry. Is that just a question of doing the "Auto fit" or do I have to edit points by hand? Sorry for stupid questions, but somehow the switching between application makes me super forget! Thx again...
