Re: Blender turning into a standard?

Standard? Maybe in Indie game development…

In VFX it has to stop ignoring http://www.vfxplatform.com/ first then offer something that is not there yet.

Re: The return of Mudbox?

Looks similar to a return of the Silo modeller. I have seen a glint of development but I wouldn't build any pipeline on it. For $10 month/$80 per year, it's cheap for guys like me that need it rarely, probably even Mudbox 1.0 is still good enough for me. Any serious sculptors are on Zbrush anyway.

3DS Max 2017

So 3ds max 2017 has tools from Maya 2016 and default image texture from Softimage http://softimage.wiki.softimage.com/xsi ... tImage.htm now.

Re: Autodesk announces Open Source Softimage

If it would be more formal and polite it could be much better joke.

Actually releasing Softimage or even 3Ds max as open source under right license would effectively kill Blender.
But it's too soon for this step from AD site as Blender is no threat for them yet.

Re: AD going Subscription only Q1 2016

Hey everyone, I can chime in here to help clarify the second question. (Graham already answered the first question about 'desktop subscription' already so i don't believe any further clarification is needed there... if yes, please ask away) The Application Manager is desktop delivery systems for Wi...

Re: Rumors about 3ds Max 2016

Edwin Braun: We did a lot of Multi-Threading optimizations. Still we are confined to 3ds Max' poor multi threading architecture.

Re: Learning Houdini...

Hi Bullit, that is not that hard when you dive into houdini a little bit deeper (yes it's deep black ocean, but it worths it imho). I added example file with comments inside dopnet. Best area for this type of question is on the sidefx.com forum, very helpful community. Good luck and have a fun with ...

MauricioPC wrote:I can't wait to see this changes. I've realized that Max will remain the same for a long time, so it's better to see change in Maya. I'm curious. 2016 might be the start of something for AD.

They are going to change Maya to behave more like a 3ds max? Navigation, speed, locked UI... etc?

Re: OpenSource Natron 1.0

Must agree about none of the documentation. At least pdf user manual and scripting api manual should be done before full 1.0 release. Hope they made it soon. The time of learning by trying undocumented features are passed away. And their excuse it's "same" like the Nuke is at least dubious...

Re: Emitting Istance order from group

Set number of particles to emit to 1 per frame. Add Select from Array, plug in Frame, and Add + 2 nodes ( or whatever offset you need) and you will get one particle per frame with different instance per frame. Or you can put Get (Point/Particle) ID for all range. Or you can shuffle that: create inde...

Re: Emitting Istance order from group

Use select from array for pulling exact one you wanted.

For non repeating particles use particle ID (that's unique for each particle ).

Great :-bd , I didn't know that, still stuck somewhere in 2012...

BiFrost looks promissing... I heard something about Maya rental for indie game devs, but I must check that new AD licensing scheme again...

Re: Autodesk going all rental?

Could be also dependent on linux distro, different libs etc.. too as it usually gets complicated there. Usually if it's possible then whole project stays on same (usually production) build for "to be safe" reason. We had no problem with same Realflow plugin for different versions (builds) ...

Re: Autodesk going all rental?

(even daily builds are incompatible with one another in houdini, from what I've heard) Actually that's not true. For Windows there is VC9 and VC11 build. As long as you compile with same VC there is high chance that you are save. So plugin compiled with VC9 even for old Houdini 12 works in H13 (as ...
