Re: softimage C++ sdk so hard to me, how you guys learn it?
Did you try using the plugin wizard? It does much of the hard work for you (defining ports, callbacks etc.,) so you only need to worry about the logic code.

Re: freeze ice to geometry
Yes, it is possible out of the box, but is not wrapped up into a tool anywhere.
Here's an interesting discussion that comes up with several solutions.

Dude, we don't even have autocomplete in Softimage's built in editor!

Re: how to turbulize multiple meshes with one turbulize control?
I guess there are a couple of options. You might try merging the objects into a single mesh either using the merge tool, or using ICE topology merging. Now you can turbulize all the points with a single turbulize node. Alternatively, you could create a custom parameter set in the scene. You can use ...

Re: zbrush fibermesh
Just set the ICE attribute self.shapesizeabsolute to true. Now the strand width will be defined in scene units, not pixels. So, you may need to adjust the strand width to compensate

Re: any news about Softimage 2014 ???
An online updater type thingy is a bad idea IMHO. The final foftware version used on any production has to be fixed. The software may be buggy or even broken, but still functional enough to get the job done well i.e. it can still workably get to the stage of rendering final, approved images. I don't...

Re: Objects or object references fed into arrays
What are you trying to do exactly? If you want to deform points for example, you can only deform the points of a single object at a time (the object the ICE tree is living on). You can't run a single ICE tree over all members of a group simultaneously. The workaround might be to merge all group memb...

Re: Autodesk Lays Off 7% Of Entire Staff
"The relentless pursuit of profit." First of all revenue is not profit. And besides 4% of profit is good? it barely superior to the fake inflation numbers we have. But if it is so good then unemployed Autodesk and others will have it easy... it seems easy to undercut Autodesk prices. Yes ...

4% profit sounds pretty good to me...but I guess shareholder value maximisation trumps all. How sad.

Re: How rendering should be
I have. So far they're not what I was hoping for and certainly not fast. Also (for me) very confusing and difficult to set up. Volume rendering just seems a natural fit to use the GPU on. I haven't tried the new Fury yet so I will at some point. Volume rendering can be very memory intensive, especi...
